Get to Know Me

I am a 21 year old, British film and digital art graduate, having just completed my three year course at The University For The Creative Arts. I am currently based in Warwickshire. I have been working with film and photography since I was 14 and am very familiar with cameras, photoshop and premiere pro. I work with the Fujifilm X-T200 which allows me to shoot in 4k. My work usually centres around issues close to my heart, such as mental health and women's rights. I am a respectful, considerate and caring person to work with and always take peoples opinions and ideas into consideration when creating work. I also have a very strong, positive work ethic making me very efficient and always having work completed on time and to a high standard. When it comes to my style, I have an eye for the smaller details, I often capture a softer style that combines intimate moments with some more upfront and in your face. I enjoy pushing myself and trying something new and experimental, I find myself straying from the norm and the expected to bring something fresh and exciting to my work.

Videography and film

All my film work is posted to my YouTube below, this is work I have created between 2017 - Present ranging from my GCSE photography projects to my most recent work at university. I have experimented with a variety of genres and styles within my work, I have created experimental works, social realist inspired short films and even documentary work exploring the different lives and experiences of various women in society. I have a lot of experience working behind a camera and also editing my all my own work with premiere pro. I also have experience working with 4k cameras and footage.

This short film reflects the feelings of anxiety in an experimental form. I decided to star in this piece myself to truly reflect the way anxiety has affected my life from childhood and into my adult life. This piece was a part of my second year university project exploring the theme 'maps and networks' which I linked to relate to the brain.

During my first year at university we explored the experimental film genre. I decided to create a piece that explores feminine identity and the female experience via religion and the repressed nature of female sexuality. The intense visuals of a woman covered in various food substances reflects the idea of purity and innocence which is so often forced on women and the shame that women are made to feel if they go against this.

Behind every strong woman - short documentary

TW: rape, assault This was our first film project at university. This was a group film so I took on the full segment for Linda, both filming and editing. Linda is my grandmother and has always been the head of our family, we acknowledge her as a strong powerful woman and I really wanted to be able to tell her story. It was quite shocking to hear some of the awful things that happened in her life but I think its important to show that a woman can experience such hardships and still remain strong. Rape is something that happens to so many women, so I hope that these three women bravely sharing their stories like this can inspire other victims of rape and remind them they are never alone.

When we began exploring experimental film within the lockdown we were tasked to create a short experimental video based on ‘time’. Due to limited resources this forced me to be more creative and think outside the box more so than before the lockdown as it led me to look at basic things around me that could provide a deeper meaning, I then interpreted this to create the idea of endless time.

For my film A-level we were tasked to create a social realist film inspired by Shane Meadows and Lynne Ramsay. My idea was to explore the theme of teen pregnancy but with an unexpected dark twist that fit alongside with genre whilst also keeping my own style clear. What I enjoy within film is being able to create something soft and subtle whilst also creating a powerful impact, I prefer to make people read between the lines.

This work was of the social realist genre and explored mens mental health and the impact a father can have on their son, passing down the same mentality of 'men don't cry'. I wanted to put emphasis on the contrast between parent and child especially in the beginning segment which reflects the ways a child will learn from and imitate a parent. this opening is also fairly light hearted and 'bright' which is abruptly changed by the sudden darkness that is to come. It is shining a light on the importance of teaching young boys to embrace their emotions.

SYML-Wheres my love {calm and chaos short film}

This was the first of my films that I created, I made this during GCSE photography for my final piece. The film presents calm and chaos through juxtaposition and the use of doubles. This film was where I started to discover my style when it came to film and the explore the differences between still and moving image.
