The life cycle of the mannequin
I created this piece in year 2 at university when exploring photomontage. I created 6 images that play out like a roll of film revealing the story of womanhood from 'birth' to 'death'. Each image shows the progression of becoming a woman and how you are treated by society, ending with the conclusion that even death cannot keep a woman's body from being defiled. When I created this work I also used the remains of the mannequin to form a sculpture to act as a 'rebuilding' of how society views the female body. This project was inspired by photographers Duane Michals and Jeff Walls
Why is she so quiet?
During my first year of university we explored portraits and how we can experiment with them. I decided to create a series of 4 images which depict the feelings and experiences of someone who suffers with social anxiety. I based this project from my own personal experience and as a way to express some emotions that can be difficult to put into words. This project was one that I really connected with and I think this is reflected as it captures my visual style and highlights my skills well.
Frozen
This work was from my time in GCSE photography. I wanted to explore photos without using any models in the images. I decided to experiment with the ice and the flowers as I liked the texture and imagery it created. Although this piece was more about testing boundaries and experimented rather than deeper meaning, it is one of my favourite works as the visual imagery it created is very striking and allows for audiences to create a deeper meaning themselves.
The death of femininity
This project was my first assignment at university in which we were tasked to take a portrait and pick only one final image without adding any edits at all. Despite this, I have included all the images and created a series as I felt it works best as a series of images rather than one.
Other photography work
I have done a wide variety of shoots for both my work and also my own enjoyment. Here are some of my other works
